About this service
We strip down your PS5, remove the old dried liquid metal, and reapply fresh liquid metal to the processor for lower temperatures and a quieter fan. Best paired with an internal clean. Fits all PS5 models.
What is covered: the liquid metal reapplication and labour, backed by our 30-day warranty.
Not covered: faults unrelated to cooling, water or physical damage, and pre-existing board damage found during the service.
When the liquid metal lets go
The PS5 cools its main chip with liquid metal rather than ordinary thermal paste. It performs brilliantly until it does not: consoles stored or moved vertically, early production units, and simple age can see the liquid metal migrate or dry at the edges. The result is a console that overheats even when clean, shuts down under load, or crashes in demanding games.
Reapplication means removing the mainboard, cleaning the old material off the chip and cold plate completely, applying fresh liquid metal with the correct containment, and reassembling with new seals where needed. It restores cooling to factory performance.
Often paired with an internal clean
If your console is overheating we usually recommend diagnosing first: many overheating PS5s just need a proper clean, which costs less. When the liquid metal itself has failed, this is the fix. Booking both together saves opening the console twice.
Perth customers drop off, everyone else can post it in from anywhere in Australia with tracked return postage included in the total.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my PS5 needs liquid metal instead of just a clean?
You usually cannot tell from outside, which is why we check the cooling system as part of the job. Overheating on a visibly clean console, or continuing shutdowns after a clean, point to the liquid metal.
Is liquid metal reapplication risky?
It is a job for a workshop rather than a kitchen table, because liquid metal is electrically conductive and a spill can kill the board. We use the correct containment and have done this job many times.
Can I post my PS5 in for this repair?
Yes, from anywhere in Australia. Book online, choose Post it in, and send it via Australia Post once we confirm your order and email the address.
What does it cost?
The reapplication is $80. If diagnosis shows you only need a clean, we tell you that instead and you pay the lower price.
