PS5 Controller Won't Charge or Connect? Fixes (Perth)
Controllers · 4 June 2025 · 4 min read
A PS5 DualSense that will not charge or connect is frustrating, but the fix is often simpler and cheaper than buying a new controller.
Quick checks first
- Try a different USB-C cable — cheap or worn cables are a very common cause
- Charge from a different USB port, ideally the console itself
- Press the small reset button in the hole on the back of the controller
- Re-pair it with a cable connected, then try wireless again
Common causes
- A worn or loose USB-C charging port from repeated plugging in
- A tired battery that no longer holds charge
- A connection board fault stopping it from pairing wirelessly
Charging port and battery repairs
If the cable and reset do not help, the charging port itself is often worn and can be replaced. A failing battery can also be swapped for a fresh one to restore full playtime. Both are quick, affordable repairs.
