Xbox Controller Stick Drift & Button Repair (Perth)

Controllers · 5 June 2025 · 4 min read

Xbox controllers take a beating, and a few faults come up again and again — stick drift, worn bumpers and triggers, and sticky buttons. All of them are repairable for far less than a new controller.

Stick drift

Drift is when your character or camera moves on its own. It happens because the standard thumbstick uses a physical contact that wears down over time. Recalibrating helps for a while, but because the part is worn, the drift always returns.

Bumpers, triggers and buttons

  • Bumpers (LB/RB) that stop clicking or feel mushy — a very common Xbox failure
  • Triggers that feel loose or do not spring back
  • Sticky or unresponsive face buttons from wear or spills

The permanent drift fix: hall-effect sticks

We can replace a worn stick like-for-like, or upgrade to hall-effect thumbsticks that use magnets instead of a wearing contact. Hall-effect sticks simply do not develop drift, which makes them the best long-term option.
